Memphis International Airport (MEM) information

Introduction

Memphis International is a small but significant airport offering flights to a plethora of cities throughout the Unites States as well as daily direct flights to Amsterdam. It is served primarily by Northwest Airlines, with a small number of additional airlines also providing flight services from the airport.

Airport parking at Memphis

A three-storey parking garage provides both short-term and long-term parking. Short-term spaces can be found on the ground and upper levels of the parking garage, with signs directing passengers to the concourses. There is no charge for the first 30 minutes of parking. Long-term parking is located on all levels of the parking facility as well as in overflow areas A, B and C. Shuttle buses provide transportation to the terminal from these additional parking areas. Free parking spaces for disabled passengers are located within the multi-level parking garage.

Getting to and from Memphis

If you are driving to the airport from Memphis city centre, take I-240 and turn onto the Airways exit south, before turning left onto Plough boulevard, which leads directly to the airport. Taxis are easily available from outside the airport building, adjacent to the baggage claim area, with the journey time into the city taking around 20 minutes. Additionally, shuttle and public bus services are available to destinations in and around the city.

Amenities at Memphis International Airport

Memphis Airport is divided into three concourses (A, B and C), with a good selection of passenger facilities distributed throughout. Banking services and ATMs are available at the airport as well as limited shopping and refreshment amenities, with an expansion of these facilities currently underway.

Telephones are widely distributed throughout the airport and internet and fax services are available. A small business centre is located at the Lobby B ticket area and conference services and meeting rooms can be hired at the Radisson and Sky Inn airport hotels respectively. Parents travelling with infants or small children have access to baby change amenities, a baby/parent room and children’s play areas. Disabled passengers are well catered for at the airport, with specially adapted lifts and toilets located throughout.

Information can be obtained from the information counters on the ground floor of the baggage claim area, which are manned by customer service staff dressed in blue sweaters.
