Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport (ATL) Information

Introduction

Situated 10 miles south of the city, Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport is among the busiest airports in the world and sees annual traffic of around 80 million passengers. The facility has two terminals, North and South, and six concourses. Travel between the terminals and concourses is facilitated by ultra efficient shuttle and travelator systems.

The airport offers both short-term and long-term parking options; for short-term parking, there is a facility located in front of terminal buildings, while the long-term facility is situated farther away and connected to the terminals by a shuttle bus.

Getting to and from the airport

Drivers bound for the airport who are coming from the north, west and east should head south along I-85, coming off at exit 18A before following signs for the airport. Drivers coming from the south should take I-285 west, coming off at Exit 3 and then follow signs for the airport.

The airports essential amenities include a bank, which can be found in the north terminal, bureaux de change in a variety of locations and extensive locker and luggage storage facilities. ATMs are also on-hand throughout the facility. For dining and refreshments, the airport has a wealth of outlets, with many popular names including Burger King, Starbucks, Nathans Famous Hot Dogs and Edys Grand Ice Cream. For shopping, there are more than 200 outlets throughout the airport, with a significant number concentrated in the atrium, located between the two terminals. For business travellers, the Executive Conference Center can be found at Airport Atrium Suite 300 and is home to a range of services including photocopying, faxing, teleconferencing and PC/laptop facilities. Disabled passengers will find the airport well equipped for their needs, while passengers with travel and airport related enquiries can use the central information desk, which is situated in the main Atrium area.
