Dundee Airport (DND) Information

Introduction

Although this tiny airport only handles about 60,000 passengers per year, it is situated in the heart of Scotland and offers access to a number of popular destinations: most notably the world-famous golf courses of St. Andrews, Gleneagles and Carnoustie. It also is the airport nearest to the River Tay, with its unexcelled salmon and trout fishing. The airport is, in fact, located directly on the Firth of Tay, 7kms west of Dundee city centre. Other area centres for which the airport is best placed are Perth, Glenrothes, Arbroath, Montrose, Forfar and Blairgowrie, plus innumerable smaller towns and villages in central and eastern Scotland. The single, modern terminal building serves several daily return flights between Dundee and the City of London Airport. The airport receives a limited number of charter flights from abroad as well.

Getting to and from Dundee

The airport is situated directly on the A85 (Riverside Drive) which leads east into Dundee city centre, a 10-minute drive. There are no bus or rail links at the airport. However taxis are readily available outside the terminal, and will transport arriving passengers to Dundee city centre and its Taybridge railway and Seagate bus terminals for about €4.50 (£3).

Amenities at Dundee Airport

Amenities are extremely limited, as one might expect of an airport this size. On the plus side, check-in and baggage retrieval proceed very quickly. There are no financial or business facilities in the terminal. Refreshments are served at a small café, which also sells a few convenience items. Disabled travellers will find specially adapted rest rooms, ramps, and wide entrances and exits.
