Blackpool International Airport (BLK) Information

Introduction

Blackpool International Airport, located 5kms south of Blackpool, is a small but growing regional airport serving about 175,000 passengers per year. The terminal, constructed in 1995 and which is presently undergoing renovations, handles regularly scheduled flights to London, Aberdeen, the Isle of Man, Belfast and Dublin, as well as to Amsterdam, Barcelona and Málaga. Charter flights connect with Jersey, Italy and the Canary Islands.

Airport parking at Blackpool

A secure car park for short and long stays is located directly outside the terminal building, a short walk away. Short-term parking fees are €1.50 (£1) per 30 minutes for the first 2 hours; after that, rates gradually decline, up to a daily rate of €24 (£16). For long-stay parking, prices are €39 (£26) for 2 days; the weekly rate is €52 (£35), and then €6 (£4) for each additional day. Pre-booking is advised, especially during the high season.

Getting to and from Blackpool

The airport is situated near the end of the M55. To reach Blackpool by car, take the A584 coast road (Promenade) which leads directly into Blackpool city centre. Buses serving the local area depart from near the airport entrance. Destinations include Blackpool city centre, North Fylde and Lytham St. Anne’s. Further transportation options are provided by a taxi rank which lies just outside the arrivals area. Blackpool’s Squires Gate train station is five minutes’ walk from the terminal. From there, trains run regularly to all parts of the UK, via Preston.

A bureau de change is located next to the information desk. A tax-free shop offers perfume, spirits, tobacco and other luxury goods. There is also a shop selling newspapers, magazines, confectionery and gifts. A bar and buffet provides a variety of meals, drinks and snacks. There is also a small bar in the departure lounge. An Executive Lounge offers internet access, television and refreshments.
