Information on Dalaman
Click here for an Cheap Airport Parking quotation Dalaman Airport (DLM) InformationIntroductionThe airport is situated about 6kms south of Dalaman town centre, on Turkey’s southwest Mediterranean coast. Daily flights connect with Istanbul, while direct flights (both scheduled and charter) to and from major European cities occur several times weekly. At present there are two passenger terminals – one for international flights and one for domestic – which handle a total of 2.5 million passengers each year. The terminals are 200 metres apart and are connected by walkways. A new, much larger international terminal is under construction, and is scheduled for completion in 2006. This will presumably reduce the often-lengthy time presently spent waiting in queues.Airport parking at DalamanShort- and long-term car parks with 390 spaces are located adjacent to the terminals.Getting to and from DalamanA main road leads from the airport directly into Dalaman. Beyond the town, Route 400 runs generally along the coast; Fethiye (in the popular Oludeniz region) is 45kms (1 hour) to the east, while Marmaris is 125kms (1½ hours) west. There are four daily buses connecting the airport’s domestic terminal with Marmaris and Fethiye. Fares are about €12.50 for the 90-minute journey to Marmaris, and €9 for the 70-minute journey to Fethiye. Another option is to take a taxi to Dalaman’s new Yeni Otogar bus station. From there, public buses and private minibuses travel to virtually any destination in Turkey. Taxis and minibuses (equipped with minibars) are on hand at the airport as well to transport arriving passengers to various area destinations, including Fethiye (€55).Amenities at Dalaman AirportEssential facilities include banks, ATMs, currency exchange bureaus, a post office and an emergency-care clinic. A small mosque, synagogue and chapel are available for prayers. Duty-free shops are located on the first (arrivals) and second (departures) floors of the international terminal. Other shops have products on offer which include Turkish coffees, foodstuffs and handicrafts. There are also newsagents/bookstores, and a florist. Restaurants, fast-food outlets and cafés on the mezzanine level offer patrons Turkish and world cuisines while watching takeoffs and landings. It must be noted that recent negative commentary on internet travel forums indicates that the foods and drinks at some of these establishments are high-priced: for example, €6 for a cup of (good, thankfully) coffee.About Essential Travel airport parkingEssential Travel specialises in airport parking at all major UK airports.
