EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL) Information

Introduction

EuroAirport is shared by three nations: Switzerland (Basel), France (Mulhouse) and Germany (Freiburg). The airport itself is on French soil, and is connected to Switzerland by a customs road. Basel is 5kms to the southeast, Mulhouse 25kms northwest and Freiburg 70kms northeast. More than 2.5 million travellers utilise the airport annually. Airlines offer 60 direct flights to various major European cities plus the Middle East, Africa, Mexico, the United States and Canada. A single terminal is divided into Swiss and French sectors.

Covered car parks S1 (Swiss sector) and F1 (French sector) charge similar rates of about €4 for the first hour, €17 per day and €115 per week. Farther from the terminal are open-air car parks S2, F2 and F3 which charge fees of approximately €3 per hour, €8-€14 per day and €50, €80 or €100 per week (S2 being the most expensive of the three). For long-stay parking, car parks S3, F5 and F6 offer more economical rates: up to 4 days for €24-€36, and €37-€57 per week.

Getting to and from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg

The airport is just off the A35 motorway which runs between Basel and Mulhouse. By car, Basel is a few minutes’ drive, Mulhouse about 30 minutes, and Freiburg 55 minutes. Shuttle buses run from the airport to the central train stations in Basel and Mulhouse. Public buses also travel to Basel city centre, making four stops en route (journey time, 20 minutes). Taxis offer additional transport to regional destinations. The approximate fare to Basel is €25; to Mulhouse, €35 (day) and €50 (night); and to Freiburg, €110.

Essential facilities include a bank, three ATMs and a bureau de change. There are several duty-free shops in the terminal. A restaurant is located on the fifth floor, serving both sectors. The terminal has wireless internet access points as well.
