The airport serves approximately one-million passengers on an annual basis and is considered one of the six major airports of the Spanish archipelago, handling regular flights to and from mainland Spain and the other Canary Islands as well as less frequent international flights to and from the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.Airport Parking at La PalmaBoth short-term and long-term parking is offered at the parking lot located straight across from the terminal building, with spaces available for almost 1,000 vehicles. There is no charge for parking stays of any duration at La Palma Airport.Getting to and from La PalmaThe main hub of Santa Cruz is located just a short drive north of the airport and is easily reached by car via the LP-138 road. To access the small towns of Hoyo de Mazo and Fuencaliente from the airport, take the LP-132 road south. Buses travel regularly between Santa Cruz and the airport, leaving the town every 30 minutes in daylight hours and then hourly until about 21:00. Buses departing from the airport work on a similar schedule. Taxis provide an alternative form of transportation and are available from a taxi rank situated outside the airport building. Additional information regarding ground transportation and current bus timetables can be obtained from the information desk in the terminal.Amenities at La Palma AirportThe airport building consists of a single, two-level terminal serving both domestic and international connections as well as offering a small yet comprehensive range of facilities. An airport restaurant and two cafeterias provide a range of meals, snacks and drinks, and several shops offer a selection of gifts and local specialties including hand-rolled cigars, wine and almond products.Business and conference facilities are provided by the Taburiente Room including seating for 25 people, a projector screen, television and video machine. Families with young children have access to the children’s playroom on the departure level of the airport, while a pharmacy is on-hand to provide basic medical provisions. Cash dispensers are located on the arrivals level of the building.
