Girona International Airport (GRO) Information

Introduction

Girona Airport is the gateway to Spain’s Costa Brava to the east, and the Pyrenees Mountains to the northwest. It is situated 12 kilometres from Girona city centre, and 85 kilometres northeast of Barcelona. The two-level terminal building handles nearly 600,000 passengers per year.

Two car parks, totaling more than 1,000 spaces, are located adjacent to the terminal: short-term opposite the building, and long-term to the right. Outside the main entrance to the terminal is a pick-up and drop-off area; assistance is available for the mobility impaired.

Amenities at Girona Airport

An ATM machine can be found on the arrivals level of the terminal, as well as a post box. Three cafes offer casual dining, and there is a small selection of both duty-free and regular shopping outlets. Three tour operators have desks at the airport as well. The airport’s VIP lounge offers standard telecommunications links, plus limited conference facilities. A supervised play area for children is located on the departures level of the terminal.

Two information counters may be found on the terminal’s arrivals level, as well as a tourist information booth.

Getting to and from Girona

Access to the airport from Girona is via either the N-II motorway (Madrid-La Junquera), the A-7 toll road (Barcelona-France), or the C-25 (Girona-Lleida). All three roads have direct exits to the airport.

Buses to and from Girona city centre (a 25-minute ride) leave every hour: from Girona, 5:00 to 22:00; from the airport, 5:30 to half past midnight. The one-way fare is €1.75, round-trip €3.30. There is a bus to Barcelona which leaves from right outside the airport, taking passengers to the main bus station in Barcelona city centre. The 70-minute journey costs €11 one-way, €19 round-trip. Taxis at the official airport taxi stand charge fixed rates: to Girona, €18; to Barcelona, €115; and to Platja d’Aro or Lloret de Mar, €40.
