Haugesund Airport (HAU) Information

Introduction

The airport is situated 14kms southwest of the city of Haugesund, on Karmøy Island in the North Sea just off Norway’s southwest coast. The airport serves as a prime gateway to Norway’s rugged and spectacular fjord region. In addition to a dozen domestic flights per day to Oslo, Bergen and Sandefjord, there is a daily flight to the UK (London/Stansted). Flights occasionally depart for other destinations, such as Antalya in Turkey. Passenger traffic at the airport has increased greatly in recent years, and now amounts to about 700,000 travellers per year. A single terminal handles all flights.

Airport parking at Haugesund

Car parks at the airport are located just outside the terminal building, and offer both short-term and long-term parking. Fees for short-term parking are €1.88 per hour, with a daily rate of €8.18. For long-term parking, fees are identical until after the third day when the rate drops to €4.40 per day.

Getting to and from Haugesund

If travelling by car from Haugesund city centre on the mainland, take the main road southward to Karmøy and follow the signs which lead straight to the airport. The trip takes about 20 minutes. Skudeneshavn is 33kms south of the airport on the same road. From Bergen, follow the E39 highway south to Haugesund and then continue on the main Haugesund-airport road. Nettbuss Vest bus service connects the airport with many local destinations. Taxis are also readily available, and run to all towns and cities in the region.

Amenities at Haugesund Airport

Amenities are quite limited. For financial transactions there is a Haugesund Sparebank “minibank” with ATM. The only shopping facility is a duty-free shop. The Café Sild og Jazz offers light meals, wine, coffee and snacks.
