Cancun International Airport (CUN) Information

Introduction

Located less than 14 miles southwest of Cancun, Cancun International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Mexico, with daily flights to and from several US cities as well as London and Madrid. Cancun International Airport’s two terminals are open 24 hours a day and are connected by a shuttle bus service.

Airport parking at Cancun

Cancun International Airport operates two car parks. There is a car park located within a short distance of both terminals. Both car parks are open 24 hours a day and are patrolled by private security guards. Short-term and long-term parking are available.

Getting to and from the airport

Cancun International Airport lacks rail and underground rail links. The airport operates shuttles, which provide door-to-door service to various hotels. Passengers should contact the airport in advance to arrange for shuttle transport. Alternatively, you can book online through the airport website. A public shuttle service runs from the airport to the city centre and the Riviera Maya; tickets for this shuttle can be purchased at a desk in the Baggage Claim area. Individual and group rates are available from the official airport taxi companies. Those travelling by car should take the Carretera / Cancun-Chetumal highway and get off at the Kilometre-22 Exit. From here, simply follow the signs to the airport.

Amenities at Cancun International Airport

Terminal facilities are usually open between 09:00 and 21:00, but there are a few shops and one restaurant that remain open 24 hours a day. There is a good selection of restaurants and fast-food outlets available at Cancun International Airport as well as several gift and specialty shops selling souvenirs, magazines and assorted other sundries. At Terminal 2 you will find a convenience store as well as a duty-free shop, a beauty parlour and a medical centre.

Terminal 2 houses a bank to meet your financial needs and there are ATM’s and currency exchange windows dotted all over the airport. Post office boxes can also be found in both terminals. Porters and lockers are available upon request for weary travellers. Passengers with disabilities will find wheelchairs available to them as well as ramps, wide doorways and wheelchair accessible toilet facilities. The main Information Desk is located at the entrance to Terminal 2 and airport representatives can be found in both terminals.
