Trieste – Friuli Venezia Giulia Airport (TRS) Information

Introduction

Located in Italy’s Friuli-Venezia Giulia region near Slovenia and Croatia, the airport is an increasingly popular tourist hub serving more than 600,000 passengers annually. The city of Trieste is 33kms to the southeast; Venice, about 110 kms to the southwest. A single terminal caters to both domestic and international flights to and from the UK, Germany, the Americas and the Far East.

Airport parking at Trieste Airport

The airport has four car parks, P1, P2, P3 and P4. Car parks P1 and P2 are long-stay, P3 and P4 short-stay. Parking is free in P1 and P4, as these are situated farther from the terminal building. Short-term parking in P3 is pay-and-display, and costs €1.70 per hour. In the attended car park P2, long-term rates are: €1.10 for up to 2 hours; €5.10 for up to 12 hours; €8.50 per day, with a charge of €7.40 for each additional day; and €25.82 weekly.

Getting to and from Trieste Airport

The airport is located just one kilometre off the A4 Trieste-Venice motorway, on the SS-14 roadway. If driving from Trieste, take the Redipuglia exit near Ronchi dei Legionari. The A23 motorway connects with the A4 and leads to Udine (40kms) and ultimately Austria’s Carinthia region. The public transport company APT operates bus service linking the airport with several regional destinations, including the Monfalcone railway station located 5kms from the airport (buses run every 25 minutes). Take bus 51 for both Trieste and Udine. An automatic ticket dispenser is located in the airport’s arrivals hall. Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall from 8:00 until 24:00.

Several ATMs and a bank offer financial services for travellers. Shops include a duty-free, a newsagent/tobacconist and a gift shop. A bar and restaurant is located on the second floor. For business travellers, a conference room may be reserved and equipped to suit visitors’ needs. A VIP lounge can accommodate smaller groups.
