Palermo Falcone-Borsellino International Airport (PMO) Information

Introduction

The airport is located 32kms west of Palermo, on Sicily’s northern coast. Named in honour of two anti-Mafia judges who were murdered in the early 1990s, the airport serves domestic destinations as well as some of the major cities of Europe, including Amsterdam and Madrid. A single three-level terminal handles all arrivals and departures.

Free parking for 1,200 vehicles is available, in addition to supervised paid parking for 650 nearer the terminal. Rates are as follows: €1.50 for 2 hours; €2.50 for 6 hours; €4.10 for 12 hours; €7.70 for 24 hours; €13.90 for 48 hours; and €6.20 for each day thereafter.

Getting to and from Palermo Falcone-Borsellino International Airport

The airport is just off the A29 autoroute, which leads to Palermo and other destinations on the north coast. Buses depart every 30 minutes to and from Palermo’s central station, from 5:00 until 24:00; the 55-minute journey costs €4.80. Regular bus service is also available to nearby cities and towns for about €4.50. Taxis located outside the airport’s arrivals area charge a minimum of €33 for the trip into Palermo’s city centre.

Amenities at Palermo Falcone-Borsellino International Airport

Two ATMs (one for foreign exchange) and a bank are located in the arrivals hall. A post office is also located on the first floor. There is a chapel open 24 hours a day on the second floor, and a first-aid post attended by Red Cross personnel. Nine shops offer an assortment of items, including jewellery, optical accessories, clothing, mobile telephones, ceramics, books and newspapers, perfumes and cosmetics, and Sicilian pastries. Bars, a café and a restaurant serve refreshments and meals from 6:00 until 24:00. Two VIP lounges are situated on the first floor.
