This airport is the gateway to the Tuscany region of Italy and the artistic and architectural masterpieces of Florence. Located 4kms northwest of the city centre, the airport annually handles nearly 1.5 million passengers travelling to and from the major cities of Italy and Europe, including London, Paris, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Madrid.

Getting to and from Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport

From downtown Florence, the airport can be reached by driving the length of Viale Guidoni up to the road leading to the Firenze Nord/Firenze Mare superhighway (A1 and A11). The airport is located just off the A11, which leads westward to Prato (8kms), Lucca (65kms) and Pisa (86kms). The nearby A1 runs generally north and south, with Arezzo 77kms distant. City buses link the airport with the bus station situated in front of Florence’s central railway station (S.M. Novella). Departures from the airport are every 30 minutes from 6:00 until 20:30, and then hourly until 23:30. A one-way ticket costs €4, and may be purchased on board. Taxis are stationed in front of the arrivals hall; the trip into the city takes about 15 minutes.
