Nearly 3 million travellers utilise the airport each year. The airport is one of the main entry points for transatlantic flights from the United States and Canada. There are also direct scheduled connections with many of the major cities of Europe.Airport parking at ShannonSecurity-patrolled car parks have more than 4,000 spaces available. The short-term car park (24 hours maximum) is directly opposite the terminal building, and charges fees of €1 for 15 minutes, €2.50 for 1 hour and €11.60 for a full day. Four long-term car parks have daily rates of €7.50, and special weekly rates of €35. The main long-term car park, Long Term 1, is located at the rear of the short-term car park.Getting to and from ShannonIf travelling from the airport by car, the N19 national roadway leads to the N18, which runs north to Ennis and southeast to Limerick. Two bus lines serve the airport, with connections available to all of Ireland’s major cities. Taxis may be obtained 24 hours a day through the taxi desk in the arrivals hall. Rates are €1.18 per kilometre to anywhere in the country. The fare to Shannon town is €7; to Limerick or Ennis, €30; and to Galway (90kms distant) €106.Amenities at Shannon AirportEssential financial facilities are a bank (in the arrivals concourse), three ATMs (in the arrivals concourse, the check-in area and the departures lounge) and four bureaux de change (in arrivals, check-in and departures, plus the customs hall). Duty-free and regular shops provide a selection of wines and spirits, fragrances, and Irish foods and crystal. A self-service restaurant offers panoramic views of the Shannon estuary from an open-air terrace. There is also a pub which serves food and drinks, and a bar in the departures lounge open 24 hours.
