Rhodes – Diagoras International Airport (RHO) information

Introduction

The airport is situated 16kms southwest of the city of Rhodes, not far from the village of Kremasti on the north coast of Greece’s Rhodes Island. The island itself is located in the Aegean Sea off the southwest coast of Turkey. The airport has expanded in recent years and currently handles about 3 million passengers per year, most of them arriving during the busy summer tourist season. In addition to regularly scheduled domestic and international flights there are charters to and from many countries of Europe and the Middle East, especially during the period from April through October. Rhodes Airport has 13 check-in desks and 8 gates, and is open 24 hours a day.

Airport parking at Rhodes

The airport’s car park, for long-term and short-term parking, is situated directly opposite the terminal building.

Getting to and from Rhodes

By car, the airport can be reached via the well-signposted coast road which encircles the island. The city of Rhodes is a 20-minute drive to the northeast, while in the opposite direction the road continues on to Paradisi, Soroni, Emponas and Monolithos. Buses to Rhodes city centre and other island destinations depart 300 metres from the terminal; consult the airport’s information desk for current timetables. Taxis are also available outside the terminal building.

Amenities at Rhodes – Diagoras International Airport

The airport has ATMs and a currency exchange bureau. A Rhodes Aeroclub VIP lounge offers limited business facilities. There is a duty-free shop, plus regular shops selling newspapers, magazines and pop-art. Food and beverages are offered at a café, restaurant and bar. Several travel agencies and tour operators maintain desks at the airport, and will assist arriving passengers with further travel plans. Recent comments on online airport forums indicate that those travelling through Rhodes Airport should be prepared for long lines and a certain amount of organized chaos.
