Corfu Island – Kapodistrias International Airport (CFU) information

Introduction

Corfu Island International Airport is located 3kms southwest of the island’s major town, Corfu (also known as Kérkira). The island itself is situated in the Ionian Sea, just a few kilometres off Greece’s northwest coast. The airport is clean and modern, and offers basic amenities and service. Flights arriving and departing several times a day link the island with the Greek capital, Athens. There are also flights to the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki three times a week. The airport handles a host of charter flights arriving directly from many of the major cities of Europe, especially during the peak tourist season in the summer months.

The airport’s car park, located just outside the terminal building, has a capacity of 120 cars and 60 buses.

Getting to and from Corfu

The airport is just off Route 25, which leads north directly into Corfu town, and runs southward following the island’s east coast to Lefkimmi. From Corfu town, Route 24 runs northwest and west to the scenic village of Palaiokastritsa, 26kms distant on the island’s west coast. Corfu Island’s public bus service connects the airport with Corfu town and other towns around the island. Many of the island’s larger hotels and resorts have their own free minibus service as well. A taxi rank is situated outside the terminal, providing easy and convenient transportation to many island destinations.

Essential facilities provided include an ATM, a small post office and a currency exchange booth. There is a duty-free shop in the terminal, plus a “pop art” shop. A café and bar serves drinks, coffee and snacks. Three travel agencies or tour operators maintain counters at the airport.
