Bremen Airport (BRE) Information

Introduction

Bremen Airport, located just 3.5kms southwest of Bremen city centre, is one of the main transportation hubs for the northwest region of Germany. The two-storey terminal building handles more than 1.5 million passengers each year. Excellent connections are available to the major cities of northern Europe, including London, Paris and Amsterdam, as well as to the Canary Islands and Mallorca. The airport is open from 3:00 until 23:00 (or later if a flight is delayed).

Airport parking at Bremen

Two multi-storey car parks are situated a few metres from the terminal. Both are open 24 hours a day. Car parks 1 and 2, with a combined 4,450 spaces, charge rates of €1.10 per hour, with a day rate for the first day of €13.20. After that the cost is €0.60 per hour up to five days, and €0.30 per hour from the sixth day on. Garages are available in car park 1 at a rate of €15 per day.

Getting to and from Bremen Airport

The airport is just off the B6 motorway, which leads directly into the city (also via the B75). If travelling by car from Hamburg, Hannover or Osnabrück, take the Arsten exit off the A1 Autobahn. The airport is connected to Bremen’s main railway station and the ZOB central coach station by trams running every 10 minutes during peak times. Tram number 6 stops outside the terminal’s check-in area. The 17-minute journey costs €1.95. Taxis charge about €10 for the trip into the city, which takes approximately 20 minutes, depending on traffic.

Retail outlets at the airport include two duty-free shops; a shop selling travel accessories, souvenirs, cosmetics and perfumes; a bookshop/newsagent; a bakery; a shop selling aircraft models and aviation-related literature; a sunglass emporium; a hairdresser and a florist. Food and beverage choices are offered at three cafés, a snack bar, a cafeteria and a bar.
