Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) information

Introduction

Located 8kms west of Berlin city centre, Tegel is the largest of three airports serving the German capital. More than 10 million people transit through the airport’s single terminal each year. Some 400 flights per day connect with the major cities of Europe, as well as the US, the Near East and Asia.

Airport parking at Berlin-Tegel

The car parks are located beneath and around the terminal. Short-term parking is found in car park PK; rates here are €1 for the first 15 minutes, and €2 for every additional 15 minutes. Car parks P1 and P2 charge rates of €4 per hour, and a daily rate of €22. For long-term parking in car park P5, the fee is €15 per day and €95 per week.

Getting to and from Berlin-Tegel

The airport is linked to the city’s motorway system via the A111 north and the A100. Jet Express buses connect with the city’s subway system at Kurt-Schumacher-Platz and Jakob-Kaiser-Platz. Buses also run to destinations in the city centre, including Unter den Linden and Französische Strasse (journey time, 20 to 30 minutes). Taxis are on hand in the central drive outside the terminal’s main hall, and in front of gates 8/9 and 16.

Amenities at Berlin-Tegel Airport

Banking and currency exchange services are offered from 6:00 to 22:00 in the pavilion in the main hall. Three additional ATMs are located in the departures area. The terminal also has a post office and a supermarket (open from 4:00 until 23:00). A dozen shops in the main hall offer gifts and souvenirs, clothes and accessories, perfumes, jewellery, and international press and literature. Four bars and five restaurants or fast-food outlets are located in the main hall and departures area. For business travellers, there is a conference room on the third floor.
