More than 200,000 passengers per year travel via the airport, most of them on ski holidays during the peak winter tourist season. The new terminal building, constructed in 2002, is open from 7:00 until 20:00, and is located 45 kms northwest of Grenoble (about a 35-minute drive). This also serves as a secondary airport for Lyon, 85 kms distant (50 minutes by car). The airport handles ski charter flights from many major European cities, and also has regularly scheduled daily service to the UK.Airport parking at Grenoble St-GeoirsThere are 500 parking spaces for cars directly outside the terminal building. The first hour is free; afterward the rates are €4 for up to three hours; €5 for up to seven hours; €8 for 24 hours; and €15 for up to 11 days. Quarterly and yearly parking passes are available as well.Getting to and from Grenoble St-GeoirsThe airport is located a few kilometres off the main A48 autoroute linking Grenoble and Lyon. Bus service between the airport and Grenoble’s main bus station (a 40-minute journey) is coordinated with flight timetables. During peak tourist season, buses arrive at the airport 1¼ hours before the departure of each scheduled flight, and depart the airport shortly after each scheduled incoming flight. From April to October there is one bus daily, leaving Grenoble at 11:35 and leaving the airport at 14:20. Minibus service for up to eight persons is available to Grenoble (€80) and many other popular destinations in the Isère and Savoie regions. Additionally, shuttle bus service (ATS) may be booked to any of the more than 60 ski resorts in the nearby Alps.
