Carcassonne Pays Cathare Airport (CCI) information

Introduction

Carcassonne Pays Cathare Airport (until recently known as Carcassonne Salvaza Airport) is located 3 kilometres outside of the charming, fairy-tale-like medieval city of Carcassonne, in the Languedoc region of France. The small but efficient airport is open from 7:30 until 19:45, and serves about 300,000 passengers per year, with activity peaking in the summer tourist season. Ryanair is the primary carrier, with regularly scheduled flights to major cities throughout Europe.

Parking in the 262-space car park is no longer free, except for spaces for the disabled. Be aware that the car park tends to get full when both the London and Brussels planes arrive.

Getting to and from Carcassonne

With the city a mere 3 kilometres away, horse-drawn carriages are available to transport arriving passengers into Carcassonne. The city is on the A-64 autoroute, 91 kilometres southeast of Toulouse, 61 kilometres west of Narbonne, and 113 kilometres from Perpignan. Trains operate between Carcassonne city centre and Toulouse; the one-way fare is approximately €11. Regular CART bus service from the airport to the Gare SNCF train station and the city centre costs €0.91 one way. Shuttle buses costing €5 also transport arriving passengers into town, leaving 25 minutes after the arrival of every flight. Taxis are available as well, and charge €12 for the trip to Carcassonne.

Amenities at Carcassonne Airport

The airport has one ATM, as well as a bureau de change and a post box. A small shop offers regional products and foodstuffs, newspapers, tobacco and gifts. Refreshment facilities include a sandwich shop offering quiches and other light meals, and a café/bar overlooking the runway. Other amenities include a VIP lounge; fax and photocopying services; and first-aid and baby-care facilities.
