Tampere Pirkkala Airport (TMP) Information

Introduction

The airport is located 15kms southwest of Tampere near the town of Pirkkala in south-central Finland’s lake district. There are two terminal buildings: the new Terminal 1 for most domestic, international and charter flights; and the older Terminal 2, for budget flights.

Airport parking at Tampere

Car parks are located outside each of the two terminals. The car park at Terminal 1 charges fees of €1 per hour, €5 for 12 hours, €7 per day and €25 per week. The rates at Terminal 2 are slightly higher: €1 per hour, €7 for 12 hours, €9 per day and €27 per week. Both car parks have the same pricing for extended stays: €40 for 2 weeks and €50 for 3 weeks. Parking tickets may be purchased at the terminals’ information desks.

Getting to and from Tampere

To get to Tampere city centre from the airport by car, take the 308 roadway which leads north to Route 3. Go east on Route 3 until arriving at the E12 north-south motorway. Tampere is a few kilometres to the north, while Hämeenlinna (60kms) and Helsinki (160kms) are to the south. Public bus number 61 operates between the airport’s Terminal 2 and Tampere. From Tampere city centre the bus departs from Pyynikintori, and follows the route: Keskustori - Hatanpää highway – Härmälä – Pirkkala – airport. The complete journey takes about 40 minutes. Current timetables are available at the airport’s information desk. Taxi service is available as well, departing from both terminals. Travel time via taxi to Tampere is about 20 minutes.

Amenities at Tampere Pirkkala Airport

Tax-free shopping is offered in both terminals. Dining options include a restaurant in Terminal 1, and a pizzeria in Terminal 2. The business centre in Terminal 1 has a conference room for up to 22 persons, which is fully equipped with telecommunications and audiovisual facilities. There is also a VIP lounge.
