Luton Airport hosts flights to more than 61 regional and European destinations, including Ireland, Amsterdam and the Mediterranean, but provides no direct services to transatlantic destinations. The addition of a state-of-the-art new terminal in 1999 raised the number of terminal buildings to two, and a recent upgrade of the existing terminal saw a Departures lounge expansion and the addition of a food and shopping hall. Airport Parking at LutonA free drop-off and pick-up point is located outside the terminal building. Both short- and long-term parking options are available, but spaces are limited and expensive. Specially designated parking spots are reserved for disabled passengers. Pre-booking parking is highly recommended to avoid disappointment.Getting to and from Luton: Luton Airport is located just over three kilometres from junction 10 of the M1 motorway, which heads directly into North London. The airport is easily accessible and clearly signposted from the city, with journey time ranging between 1 hour and 1 hour, 15 minutes.Luton train station can be reached via a short shuttle bus ride, and the Luton Flyer provides a fast and efficient means of accessing London. Day trains run half-hourly to London Kings Cross Thameslink station, with additional night services operating less frequently. Direct trains also run as far as Brighton, taking roughly one hour to reach the coastal town, and to smaller stations in the north and south. The Luton and District 757 Greenline coach departs hourly (and more regularly during rush hour) to London and various local destinations, with less frequent services operating over the weekend. Taxis are available and can be booked in advance to avoid queues, but are expensive, with the cost of a trip to London around £70. Amenities at London Luton International AirportPassenger services are spread out across the two terminals, and include a non-denominational ‘chapel’ open to all faiths and religions. Several bureaux de change are scattered throughout the terminals, and baby-changing rooms are also available. The plush Aviance Executive Lounge encompasses a range of business and leisure services that are available to passengers at a charge of £18 per two hours. The recent upgrade of the initial terminal building saw the addition of a large food and shopping court, and numerous additional retail outlets, including Ann Summers, the Body Shop and Boots, can be found throughout the airport.
