Gatwick International Airport (LGW) information

Introduction

With a total throughput of around 35 million passengers per year, Gatwick International Airport is Britain’s second busiest airport with flights to destinations worldwide, including transatlantic and African destinations. There are two terminals at Gatwick (North and South) that are connected by a monorail.

Airport Parking at Gatwick

Short-term car parks are connected to the terminals by covered walkways, while the long-term car parks offer free shuttles to the terminals and can be booked four days in advance. Valet parking, chauffeured parking, and vehicle transfer between airports is available at Gatwick Airport. Booking in advance is recommended.

Getting to and from Gatwick

Gatwick Airport is well connected to the UK motorway network and is directly linked to the M23 (junction 9), as well as the A-23 London-Brighton road. In addition, the M25 ring road is nearby making access from all points (north, east, and west) more convenient.

Getting to central London is straightforward by public transport, with the popular Gatwick Express train departing for Victoria station and back every 15 minutes (between 06:00 and 22:00) and every 30 minutes thereafter; this service takes 30 minutes and is £15. Thameslink trains also run to central London (40 minutes) as well as to Brighton and Bedford.

To get to London Victoria Station by bus, Flightline has a frequent service throughout the day, while Speedlink buses run to and from Heathrow Airport and National Express coaches serve destinations nationwide; buses depart from the South terminal. You can take a taxi from outside either terminal and chauffeur-driven cars are also available.

Amenities at London Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport is well equipped with ATMs and money changing facilities at both terminals, as well as left luggage facilities and a lost property service. Additionally, there is a post office and a 24-hour internet café in the South Terminal and a wireless internet connection in the North Terminal. Other facilities include a medical centre, children’s play area, baby care rooms and prayer rooms. Each terminal has an information desk in the Arrivals hall.

Restaurants, cafés, snack bars and bars are numerous and are scattered through both terminals. Many UK high street shops are represented at the airport and duty-free outlets are also plentiful.
