Birmingham International Airport (BHX) information

Introduction

Birmingham International Airport is the gateway to the British Midlands and is one of the UK’s largest airports, serving around six million passengers per year. Birmingham International is a well designed airport with excellent facilities. Two terminals, International and Eurohub, handle flights nationwide, throughout Europe and to several long-haul destinations. Both terminals have check-in desks located on the ground floor, and Departures areas on the first floor, and are connected by the Millennium link walkway.

Airport parking at Birmingham

There are short- and long-term car parks, with pre-booking available at discounted rates. An uncluttered drop-off zone is also on hand and disabled parking is plentiful. The long-stay car parks are linked to the terminals by shuttle buses and the Skyrail.

Getting to and from Birmingham

Located in the centre of the country, Birmingham International Airport has excellent road and rail connections with the Midlands and farther afield. By road, BHX has an easy connection with the M42 motorway at junction 6 and is serviced by the A-452 Coventry road. Direct connections are also available to the M1, M5, M6 and M40, while the M6 toll motorway provides additional convenience.

The airport rail station has direct links with Birmingham New Street station, from where Intercity and regional rail services connect to London and other major centres in the UK. Regular bus services run to Birmingham central, Solihull, Wolverhampton, Sutton Coldfield, Nuneaton, Atherstone, Coventry, Warwick from the airport, while National Express have UK-wide coach services.

The taxi rank is located outside the Millennium Link Block.

There are ATM machines at locations throughout both terminals and bureaux de change on both levels of each terminal. Prayer rooms are also provided in both terminals. First-aid is available 24 hours a day, and a Spar convenience store is located in the Eurohub Arrivals hall.
