Vancouver International Airport (YVR) Information

Introduction

Vancouver International Airport is Canada’s second largest airport and the second largest international passenger gateway on North America’s west coast. Consisting of two terminals, Domestic and International, Vancouver International Airport serves roughly 15 million passengers per year.

Airport parking at Vancouver

Vancouver International Airport features short-term parking in several different on-site car parks. There is also a long-term facility that is connected to the airport via complimentary, 24-hour shuttle buses. An economy lot is located within walking distance of the terminal and curbside valet parking is also on-hand.

Getting to and from the airport

Public buses run by Airporter link the airport with several destinations in downtown Vancouver including hotels, bus terminals and cruise ship docks. There are also several scheduled buses which travel to major destinations in the city centre as well as South Surrey, Langley, Aldergrove, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Whistler, Vancouver Island and Seattle. Courtesy shuttles exist to ferry passengers to hotels and other destinations near the airport terminals. Taxis are available and are in accordance with strict government standards. Vancouver International Airport is located eight miles south of the city centre and the city is easily reached by car. To get to the city from the airport, cross the Arthur Laing Bridge and follow highway 99. Signage between the city and the airport is good.

Amenities at Vancouver International Airport

Bars, restaurants, cafés and snack bars are located throughout both terminals of Vancouver International Airport. Fast-food outlets are supplemented by several sit down restaurants including Peak’s Lounge, Jetside Bar and The Cheers Bar and Lounge. A good selection of shops is available at Vancouver International Airport, selling the usual mix of sweets, spirits, souvenirs and sundries. Gourmet foods can be purchased at Tastefully Canadian and The Fish Market.

Both terminals house ATMs and foreign currency exchange machines, and there are full service banks open daily from 05:30 to 22:00. In addition, post boxes and offices exist in both terminal buildings. Business services including fax, photocopying, laser printing, cellular phone rental, workstations and internet can be accessed at the business centre located in the Arrivals area of the International Terminal. The entire airport is disabled-friendly and further improvements are currently being implemeneted. Customer service desks are located in the Departures areas of both terminals as well as tourist information desks.
